Campus Safety Officer
Hometown: North Vernon, IN
What are your most essential job functions, and what sort of things can students seek your help with? Student Safety, Medical response, Fire Safety--anything, really. I also teach CPR First Aid training and Self-defense for women.
What did you do prior to Hanover? I was an EMT at Kings Daughters Hospital
What do you love about Hanover? I love the small campus and everyone knowing each other and working together as a team. I chose Hanover because of the family feel and because everyone is so helpful.
What's your favorite place on campus or in Madison? I love just sitting at the point on the stairs and looking out over the river it is so relaxing and peaceful.
If you could visit one place in the world, where would it be - and why? Italy, I had an exchange student and I would love to go visit her.
What are some of your interests, and what sort of things keep you busy? I love to read and I love to restore old furniture.
What's your pump-up song? "Can’t Stop the Feeling," by Justin Timberlake
Is there anything that you've always wanted to do but never have? I always wanted to learn to play the piano, maybe when I retire and have more time.
What's something that your coworkers might not know about you? I think I’m pretty much an open book. I’m a very out going person so I never meet a stranger.
What advice would you give to students who are beginning their college careers? Take it one day at a time and ask for help along the way if you need it. This path has already been taken by so many so let them help find the best path for you when you hit a bump along the way.
What’s your favorite way that you get to help/work with students? Teaching my CPR classes and my self-defense classes. It gives me a chance to get to know the students and for them to get to know me.
