As the world is dealing with the pandemic, Hanover College is taking the necessary steps to ensure that students and employees are safe. That concern for the wellbeing of students and employees also applies to our alumni. To that end, Hanover College, in collaboration with your peers on the Alumni Leadership Council have made some decisions that affect Homecoming and Reunions in 2020. Because we recognize that these decisions will have an impact on you, we wanted to share them as soon as possible.

Last month, we sent an alumni survey about Homecoming to all alumni, we did so with the hope that it would be possible to host an in-person Homecoming this year. We understand that the rates of infection are on the rise and that the virus has not abated. While it is a difficult decision, Homecoming 2020 will be transitioned into a series of unique virtual events, allowing alumni from near and far and with varying interests to still engage with the College and their fellow alumni. More information about the activities and their schedules will be forthcoming.

Given that Homecoming is the time when alumni gather to celebrate their reunions, we will move the reunions for classes ending in 0 and 5 to May 21 & 22, 2021. For this to be successful, we know that the virus would need to be contained and that alumni would be willing to return for their reunions.

The Alumni Achievement Awards reception, which was previously rescheduled from May to the Friday of Homecoming, will remain and transition to a virtual celebration, honoring this year's recipients, as well as the many achievements of our great alumni far and wide. Please make a special effort to join in on this virtual celebration to honor these deserving alumni.

We made these decisions with the goals of keeping students, alumni, and you safe while also giving you ways to connect with our alumni. On a daily basis, COVID-19 is altering the day-to-day life in your communities and ours. We will continue to do our best to schedule engagement opportunities that allow everyone to remain connected to Hanover and allow us to keep the Hanover College community safe and healthy.

We thank you for your understanding and also for your continued support and enthusiasm for Hanover College. Additional information will be forthcoming.
