Panthers prep for pivotal contest at Saint Vincent

Abby Shroyer runs down the field

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women’s lacrosse team will look to bounce back from a tough loss last week and stay among the top four in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference standings, as they travel to face Saint Vincent (Pa.) at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22.

The Panthers were riding a four game winning streak prior to last Saturday’s loss to conference leading Washington & Jefferson (Pa.). Hanover is 7-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play this season, sitting fourth in the standings, and will close the regular season with three road ORLC games.

Hanover’s opponent, Saint Vincent (7-4, 3-2 ORLC), is currently a half game behind the Panthers for the fourth and final spot for the conference tournament. The Bearcats are coming off a 17-11 loss to W&J this past Wednesday.

Junior Amanda Mousa (Springboro, Ohio) has been a big part of HC’s success this year, as she leads the ORLC in goals against average (8.73) and save percentage (0.495). Mousa is 7-3 in net for the Panthers.

Also helped the Panther defense has been junior Abby Shroyer (Zionsville, Ind.). Shroyer is among the top five in the ORLC in both draw controls per game (4.46) and caused turnovers per contest (1.92). The junior also has the third most ground balls in the conference with 45.

The Panther offense has been balanced all season long, as six players have over 20 points this year. Junior Mallory Fogus (Grosse Ile, Mich.) leads the offensive attack with 29 goals and 33 total points.

Hanover is 2-2 in games played away from Alumni Stadium this year. The Blue and Red have won the past two road/neutral site games they have played, outscoring their opponents by an average margin of 9.5 goals per contest.
