Cami Jones prepares for a return

HANOVER, Ind. – Coming off a second straight 16-win season, the Hanover women’s tennis team has released its schedule for the upcoming fall campaign.

The Panthers won their fourth straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship last fall and will look to go undefeated in conference action for their fifth consecutive time this fall.

Hanover opens conference action with a road contest against Earlham, Saturday, Sept. 16. Other notable matches in the HCAC regular season slate include Rose-Hulman and Defiance. The Blue and Red will welcome RHIT for a home contest, Saturday, Sept. 23, in what will be a rematch of the 2015 and 2016 HCAC Tournament Finals. Hanover and Defiance will meet at 11 a.m. during Homecoming Weekend, Saturday, Oct. 14.

Overall, Hanover has won 33 straight HCAC regular season matches. The Blue and Red will look to return to the conference tournament this season, which will take place in Indianapolis, Ind., at the West Indy Racquet Club, on Oct. 20 -22.

The Panthers will open the 2017-18 season with a non-conference match at Indiana University-Southeast on Sept. 3. The contest will be the first for Hanover under new head coach Eric LaRue, who comes from Tennessee Wesleyan, where he spent the last five seasons as the head coach for the men’s and women’s teams.

One other notable match on the non-conference slate is a home contest against NCAA Division II opponent, Bellarmine (Ky.), Sunday, Sept. 17. Hanover faced two NCAA Division II institutions last year, going 1-1, including a 7-2 victory over Mary (N.D.).
