GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior Tanner Korfhagen (Cincinnati, Ohio) has wasted little time making an impact on the Hanover men’s soccer program as the transfer was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for matches played the week of March 4-10.

Korfhagen scored the first two goals of his Hanover career in back-to-back games over the weekend, including his first game-winning score in a Panther uniform to help the the Red and Blue post a 1-1 record on the week.

In the Hanover's 2-1 loss to Otterbein Saturday, the junior had the team’s lone goal of the match on a penalty kick early in the second half to cut the lead in half.

One day later, Korfhagen gave the Panthers a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Wabash. With only 51 seconds remaining in overtime, he took a deflected pass and volleyed it past the goalkeeper to give the Red and Blue its second win of the season.

Through four starts this fall, Korfhagen leads the team with two goals and four points, and is tied for second in shots (4) and shots on goal (2).

He is the first Hanover men’s soccer player to be recognized for the award in 2017, after three players earned the honor in 2016.

The Panthers, 2-2-0 overall, are back in action this week at the Wilmington Kiwanis Classic hosted by Wilmington College (Ohio). Hanover will play Cincinnati-Clermont (Ohio) Friday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m., followed by a match Saturday, Sept. 16 at 1:30 p.m. against Wittenberg (Ohio).
