GREENWOOD, Ind. – Senior Courtney Crawford (Louisville, Ky.) has helped the Hanover volleyball team to its first 8-0 start in program history, as a 4-0 record last week earned her Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week accolades.

Crawford, who is picking up her first HCAC weekly award, hit .372 in four home matches last week, totaling 25 kills. During the three-match Hanover Invitational this past weekend, she logged 22 kills, a .432 hitting percentage and seven total blocks. Her performance during the invitational earned her all-tournament accolades as well.

The Panthers defeated Spalding (Ky.) last Tuesday evening in their home opener, 3-0. Hanover then added 3-0 victories over Centre (Ky.) and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) to open the home invitational, before capping the tournament and week with a 3-1 decision against Ohio Wesleyan.

During the victory against OWU, Crawford tied for a team high with 10 kills.

On the season, Crawford leads the HCAC in hitting percentage at .362. The senior is also among the tops in the conference in total kills and kills per set. Defensively, Crawford is second in the HCAC in total blocks with 27.

The Panthers won three conference player of the week awards last season, with this being the team’s first of 2017.

Hanover will look to stay unbeaten Wednesday, Sept. 13, when the team welcomes Thomas More (Ky.) to Collier Arena for a 7 p.m. first serve.
