Indiana Intercollegiate on tap this week for women’s cross country team
HANOVER, Ind. – Following a week off from competition, the Hanover women’s cross country team will continue its season this week in West Lafayette, Ind. at the Indiana Intercollegiate.
In the season-opening meet two weeks ago, the Panthers fell to Indiana University – East at the Hanover Invitational. Junior Morgan Hamilton (Centerville, Ind.) led the Panthers with a fifth place finish and a time of 22:42.4.
Sophomore Ariel Barlow (Francesville, Ind.) and junior Amanda Stump (Garrett, Ind.) immediately followed in sixth and seventh places respectively. Barlow completed the rain-soaked 5k-race in 22:59.5, while Stump finished in 23:06.4
The Panthers have participated in seven of the eight Indiana Intercollegiate meets since 2009, including the last five years. The team finished sixth in both 2013 and 2014 to mark the highest finishes at the meet.
Last year Hanover was 10th overall out of 13 schools. Sophomore Julianna Delano (Greencastle, Ind.) was the top finisher among returners for the Panthers at that meet. Delano ran a time of 22:33.22 as a freshman to place 59th overall out of 111 total competitors. Stump was 73rd overall with a time of 23:05.55 in her sophomore year.
The 6k-race is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Purdue University Cross Country Course.
