SEASON STATISTICS

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women’s golf team will get its first look at the course that will be used for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship later this fall when the Panthers head to Nicholasville, Ky. to play in the HCAC Preview.

The two-day event will be played at Keene Trace Golf Club Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24, and will mark the midway point of the fall season for Hanover.

The Panthers participated in the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic last weekend in Normal, Ill. The team’s top three finishers ended that tournament with two-day scores of 161, 162, and 163.

Sophomore Maddie Cody (Brownsburg, Ind.) tied for 31st with scores of 81-80, followed by sophomore Allison Goodwin (Lebanon, Ind.) in a tie for 33rd with 82-80. Junior Sam Pease (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished in a tie for 36th overall. After posting an 88 on day one, Pease tied for the lowest individual round by a Hanover player this fall with a 75.

This weekend’s tournament will not be the first time the Panthers have seen the course. HCAC foe Transylvania hosted its Invitational at Keene Trace almost one year ago this weekend with Hanover finishing first out of seven competing schools.

With a team score of 666 (330-336), the Panthers finished four strokes ahead of second place Pikeville (Ky.). Other HCAC schools at that event were Transylvania (3rd – 673), Manchester (4th – 714), and Franklin (6th – 742).

Goodwin led all current team-members at that tournament with a 163 (81-82) to tie for fourth overall. Senior Ellen Wuerch (Fortville, Ind.) was 10th with 86-84 for a 170. Cody tied for 11th one stroke back with a 171 (88-83), and Pease finished in a tie for 13th another stroke back at 172 (82-90).

After this weekend Hanover will play in two more tournaments before returning to Nicholasville Thursday and Friday, Oct. 14-15 for the HCAC Championship.
