Hanover College is a private, coeducational liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Founded in 1827, Hanover is the oldest private college in Indiana. The College is located in southeastern Indiana on 650 acres overlooking the Ohio River. Hanover's student body approximately 1000 men and women from 27 states, including Alaska and Hawaii, and 13 countries earn their Bachelor of Arts degree in more than 30 Academic Programs.

Location
A scenic area of natural beauty, Hanover is located in southeastern Indiana, overlooking the gentle sweeps of the Ohio River. Neighboring and historic Madison is just minutes away and has become a favorite relaxation spot for the College's students. Louisville, Kentucky, is 45 miles from campus; Cincinnati, Ohio, 70 miles; and Indianapolis, 95 miles. Feel like a weekend road trip? Chicago, St. Louis, and Nashville are easy one-day drives. Campus
Hanover College is nestled on 650 acres overlooking the shining Ohio River. The campus' landscape consists of carefully tended grounds, all of whose major buildings are designed in the Georgian architectural style. Library
The Duggan Library, dedicated in 1973, houses the College's library collections that include 316,000 bound volumes, 314,000 government documents, 6,700 audiovisual items, and 52,000 microforms. Additionally, the Library subscribes to more than 65 databases and 2,000 periodicals, both print and electronic, with online access to thousands of full-text articles. Duggan Library
Enrollment
Hanover's student body of approximately 1000 men and women from 27 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. A large percentage of Hanover students finished in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class. Nearly all students live on campus in a variety of housing.
Faculty
More than eighty percent of Hanover's faculty holds a doctorate or other terminal degree. An estimated one-third of faculty members and their families reside on campus.

The small student-to-faculty ratio at Hanover College is one of our pleasures to offer. With only ten students per faculty member, each student gets to personally know and talk with his or her professors. Our average class size is 16 students. Take advantage of our small size to interact with your fellow campus members and benefit fully from all we have to offer.
Academic Calendar
At Hanover, we operate on a 4-4-1 calendar, which means that students take four classes during each fall and winter term, and one class during each spring term. Fall and winter terms are four months long each, whereas spring term is a one-month term devoted to intensive study on campus, participation in internships and independent studies, and off-campus programs that include travel in foreign countries.
Areas of Study
The Bachelor of Arts degree is awarded in more than 30 areas of study. At Hanover, you can find the following programs, though your studies are not limited to these: Anthropology, Art History, Studio Art, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Classical Studies (Greek and Latin), Communication, Computer Science, Economics, Education (teacher certification available), English, Environmental Studies, Foreign Languages (French, German, and Spanish), Mathematics, Medieval-Renaissance Studies, Music, Philosophy, Physics (including Astronomy), Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Theater, and Theological Studies. Off-campus Study Opportunities
Feel like getting off campus for a semester and exploring the world outside Hanover? Our study abroad program allows you to immerse yourself in another culture for a full semester. You will live and learn with students from around the globe, learning more about yourself and your own culture by fully experiencing another. Think about it: right now, there are Hanover students in Australia, Turkey, and Belgium taking classes in English, as well as Hanoverians studying in the native languages of Mexico, France, Spain, and Germany. Career Services
Unsure where to go after college? Visit our Career Center, which offers individual advising for career opportunities and life after Hanover. The center houses an on-campus recruiting program for employers, as well as an extensive alumni network that helps to connect our future Hanover alumni. More than thirty percent of Hanover graduates go on to a graduate or professional program after completing their Bachelor of Arts, but in order to find out what is right for you, visit the Career Center.
Student Organizations
Hanover students are encouraged to be active and interactive on the campus, invited to participate in student government, publications, theatre, music, and a variety of special interest clubs. Greek life on campus includes five fraternities (Beta Theta Pi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Delta Theta, Phi Gamma Delta, and Sigma Chi) and four sororities (Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Phi Mu). Intercollegiate Athletics
Our Hanover Panthers, both men and women, compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in a variety of sports. Men's sports are baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, and track. Women's sports are basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track, and volleyball. Intramural Athletics
Students that wish to participate in sports but not intercollegiate athletics are encouraged to take part in our intramural sports. Men's and women's choices include flag football, basketball, volleyball, and softball. Facilities on campus are also open for racquetball, tennis, and other sports, and students certainly may start intramural teams in other sports as well. The majority of Hanover students, often joined by faculty, enjoy the friendly competition in our intramural events.
Costs
To business: Total costs for the Hanover College 2007-2008 academic year are $31,370. The breakdown is as follows: tuition, $23,700; fees, $520; room, $3,450; board, $3,700. In addition to these direct college costs, student may expect to incur costs for books, transportation, and personal expenses. Endowment
Hanover's very strong financial base supports its rank in the top ten percent of the nation's colleges on an endowment-per-student basis. The College accepts no direct government funding of any kind, allowing us to remain a strong private establishment.
Financial Assistance
More than 90 percent of Hanover students receive some form of direct financial assistance through scholarships, grants, loans, and campus employment, the last of which is open to all students regardless of financial need. Financial Aid
