Lambert Honored for Service to Boy Scouts
Hanover College President Lake Lambert has been honored for his dedication and service to the Boy Scouts of America.
Lambert was presented with the District Award of Merit by the Hoosier Trails Council, Muscatatuck District. The honor recognizes a highly regarded leader (scouter) following recommendations from adult volunteers in the district.
“Lake has a passion for scouting,” said Jon Ocheltree, Hoosier Trails Council field director. “He knows that the values that the Boy Scouts of America instill in the youth are beneficial and often add much needed direction.”
Lambert, himself an Eagle Scout, was also honored for his service on the Hoosier Trails Council Executive Board, which governs three districts within an 18-county area in south-central Indiana. Since 2017, he has served among the council’s voting group of volunteers to decide budgets, expenditures, operations, activities and recruitment initiatives.
During his term, Lambert was instrumental in the successful merger of the Hoosier Hills and Lenni Lenape districts into the larger Muscatatuck District, which now includes a nine-county area in Southeastern Indiana. He hosted a “town hall” meeting to address the consolidation, served on the nomination committee to elect a new district chair and spearheaded the 2020 Council Camporee.
Lambert also served the Hoosier Hills and Muscatatuck districts. He was instrumental in the operations of the former Hoosier Hills District and currently assists with the membership recruitment campaign in the Muscatatuck District. Local recruitment has reached record levels through his efforts with area school corporations and, as the Muscatatuck District’s finance chair, he is credited with helping the district reach their “Friends of Scouting” goal in the community.
“Lake continues to support Cub Scout growth, Scouts BSA growth and Venturing growth in his community,” added Ocheltree. “He is an asset to the council and the district and is highly deserving of the District Award of Merit.”
