Morris Named Vice President for Business Affairs
Vincent Morris has been appointed Hanover College’s vice president for business affairs. He joins the College’s administrative staff with more than 20 years of experience as a higher education finance and risk management officer and independent business consultant.
Morris, who will begin his role at Hanover June 1, has operated Morris Consulting since 2006. The Illinois-based independent firm advises a wide range of clients on strategy, finance, sustainability, risk management and business operations.
Morris served as vice president for finance and chief financial officer at Houghton College from 2016-18. While at Houghton, he was responsible for a $33 million annual operating budget and $55 million investment portfolio. He provided oversight for the institution’s initiatives in accounting, purchasing, human resources, information technology, financial aid, and facilities and fleet management, among others.
From 2012-16, Morris was executive director for higher education practice at Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services, Inc., a Fortune 500 international risk management and insurance services brokerage firm. He traveled extensively, providing risk management consultation, research, problem-solving and best practices for higher education clients around the globe.
Morris, a certified public accountant, began his career in higher education in 1998, starting a 13-year stint as director of risk management at Wheaton College. While at Wheaton, he was responsible for many areas, including environmental health, safety and compliance, negotiating insurance and risk financing terms, employee health benefits, claims management and loss control.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and youth ministry from Gordon College and, later, a master’s degree in theology from Wheaton. He served as a youth minister at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Warrensville, Ill., from 1989-98 before moving into higher education.
In addition to his theological degrees, Morris holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in finance, strategic management and managerial and organizational behavior. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from Wheaton.
For more than 20 years, Morris has served as an active member and officer in numerous industry and church-related boards and associations. He currently serves as a member of the University Risk Management and Insurance Association, including a stint as the organization’s president (2008-09). He is also the treasurer of both the Rivers and Lakes Presbytery, which serves 30 churches in the Upper Midwest, and A Rocha USA, an environmental conservation group.
