“The Stories We Tell” will feature an appearance by German slam poet Eva-Lisa Finzi, performances of original works by Hanover students and a theatrical adaptation of “Hansel and Gretel.” The event will be held at 4:15 p.m., Thursday, March 30, at The Shoebox. There is no charge for admission and free beverages will be available.

Note: All performances will be in German with English supertitles.

Born and raised in Dortmund, Germany, Finzi was drawn to arts and poetry at an early age and is now a teacher of creative writing. She first presented her original poetry on stage in 2018 and has since performed across Europe and participated in several international slam-poetry championships.

Finzi has guided students from Hanover’s upper-level German special topics course in the creation of their own poetic texts through online writing workshops during winter term. She will join the students in-person for the jam-poetry portion, which blends writing and performance to create a uniquely imaginative experience.

The adaption of “Hansel and Gretel” is made possible through a collaboration with Jennifer Schmidt, assistant professor of theatre.

“The Stories We Tell” is sponsored by the College’s German and theatre departments with support from the Hanover Enrichment Series.
