Comer named exceptional alumni educator
Kasey Tobias Comer ’12 has been selected as the Hanover College Educator Preparation Program’s exceptional alumni educator of the year. She received the honor May 22 during an end-of-year professional educator induction ceremony.
A 10-year veteran of the classroom, Comer has taught social studies, language arts and reading intervention to second-, fifth- and sixth-grade students. Following her Hanover graduation, she served in youth ministry before becoming a teacher in 2014. She initially joined the faculty at New Washington (Ind.) Elementary School and has recently taught at Scottsburg (Ind.) Middle School.
Comer has worked with Hanover Professor Deborah Hanson to develop engaging, hands-on opportunities that combine literacy with multi-sensory reading experiences. She also serves on various advisory panels within the College’s education department.
