“Little Women: The Broadway Musical” set for six-show March run
The Hanover College Theatre Department will present “Little Women: The Broadway Musical” during a special six-show run in mid-March. This musical adaptation of an iconic American novel is just the second musical performed at Hanover in the past two decades.

“Little Women: The Broadway Musical” is based on the beloved 19th-century work by American novelist Louisa May Alcott. The musical, which originally appeared on Broadway in 2005, was nominated for three Drama Desk Awards and received a Tony Award nomination for its leading lady, the Broadway and television star Sutton Foster.
Hanover’s presentation will bring to life the adventures and challenges faced by the four March sisters as they navigate life in Civil War America. The production will be directed and staged by Gabriel Vanover, assistant professor of theatre, and feature a 14-member, all-student cast.
Performances will be staged in The Other Place, adjacent to Donner and Ide residence halls. The March 15-16 and March 22-23 performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. The March 17 and March 24 matinees will start at 2 p.m.
General admission tickets to “Little Women: The Broadway Musical” are free and available in advance. Reservations of tickets are required due to limited seating in the venue. Tickets may be printed or scanned upon entry from a barcode on a mobile device.

“Little Women: The Broadway Musical” is the final production for the academic year, capping the season series, “Old Stories in New Light.” The series explored well-known stories and characters in new ways. “Everybody,” a modern take on “Everyman” and written by American playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, was staged Nov. 17-19. “The Woods,” based on characters created by famed American author L. Frank Baum (“The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”), opened the season series Oct. 14-16.
