Physical therapy program set to host commencement, white coat ceremonies

Seventy-nine doctoral students will graduate during Hanover College’s third-annual Doctor of Physical Therapy commencement. The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 22, in Collier Arena, located within the Horner Health and Recreation Center.

Hanover’s DPT Class of 2025 graduation will include an address by an elected member of the graduating class, presentation of student academic and leadership awards, conferral of degrees and traditional doctoral hooding for each student.

Alexandra Carmen Menendez DPT ’25, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., has been selected to serve as class speaker and will deliver the student address.

Gregory Kline, Hanover’s DPT program director, will present awards to class members for service, clinical and academic excellence, as well as student impact.

Carey Adams, provost and vice president for academic affairs, will present the candidates and President Lake Lambert will confer the doctoral degrees. Kerry Volansky, associate provost for graduate studies, will read the names of each graduate, who will be hooded by Kline and David Denton, assistant program director.

Mark Hays ’77, president of the Alumni Leadership Council, will welcome members of the class to the Hanover College Alumni Association.

Rev. Catherine Y.E. Knott, Ball Family Chaplain, will perform the invocation and benediction.

Marshals for commencement activities will include Denton, Joseph Girard, clinical associate professor, and Sharon McFadden, clinical assistant professor.

Class of 2026 White Coat Ceremony

The Hanover Doctor of Physical Therapy program’s celebratory activities will begin Thursday, August 21, with the White Coat Ceremony, which commemorates the transition from coursework to second-year clinical rotations for members of the Class of 2026.

Each student will receive a traditional white medical coat during the event. The presentation symbolizes a physician’s responsibilities and ethics, while also welcoming students into the profession.

The program will begin at 1 p.m. in Collier Arena.

Free parking will be available throughout campus. Shuttle service will be available for individuals with disabilities or other special needs. Tickets are free and available through all graduating students.
