Preparing for Our Third Century

To position ourselves for success beyond the 2027 Bicentennial, Hanover College has been steadily implementing a comprehensive strategic plan. The “Hanover Stands Above” plan commits us to:

  • Building a more welcoming and equitable community
  • Enhancing the undergraduate experience and increasing enrollment
  • Fostering employee wellbeing
  • Improving alumni outcomes and engagement
  • Improving campus facilities and information technology
  • Increasing national impact and developing new graduate programs

To support these six priorities, the College is seeking investments for the renovation and maintenance of its buildings and campus beautification; annual giving to support the Hanover Grant, Athletics, Academic Programs, and many other areas that let us create extraordinary experiences for students; endowed funds which grow with time and create lasting legacies; and for the furtherance of our work with the Town of Hanover and the City of Madison.

For nearly 80 years, Parker Auditorium has stood at the base of the Quad as an enduring symbol of Hanover College. Named for President Albert George Parker, Jr., it has been a gathering place for theatre, chapel, reflection, and learning—where generations of students created lasting memories. As Professor Emeritus of Theatre Tom “Doc” Evans reminds us, “Parker is not just the theatre. Parker is an iconic symbol of Hanover College… it has magnitude. It has an emotional feeling about it that is wonderful.”

As we approach our Bicentennial, the Board of Trustees is committed to restoring Parker to its rightful place at the heart of campus life. Reimagined as the new Business and Entrepreneur Center and a future community performing arts center, Parker will unite Hanover’s liberal arts tradition with career preparation—honoring our past while investing in our future.

We are close to making this vision a reality. With your support, we will deliver a revitalized Parker Auditorium in time for Hanover’s Bicentennial Celebration in October 2027, ensuring that this iconic building continues to inspire generations of students to come.
