Academics at Hanover:
1+2+1 program with Ivy Tech Community College-Madison
Hanover College and Ivy Tech-Madison have united to launch Indiana’s first “1+2+1” nursing program. The unique academic track combines the strengths of both institutions to create a pathway for students to earn associate (ASN) and bachelor’s degrees (BSN) in a four-year period.
Students will be enrolled at Hanover and live on campus all four years, but will take their second- and third-year clinical nursing courses at Ivy Tech’s nearby Madison, Ind., campus. Students will earn an associate degree in nursing from Ivy Tech and take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) at the end of their third year to become a registered nurse. In the fourth year, students would return to courses on Hanover’s campus to earn a post-licensure bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Whether taking classes at Hanover or Ivy Tech, these students will be eligible to participate in all aspects of campus life at Hanover. This includes intercollegiate athletics, performing and visual arts, Greek life, student government, clubs and much more.
In their first year, Hanover pre-nursing students will take core requirements with other first-year students. These courses would also include pre-requisites for Ivy Tech’s ASN program such as a first-year writing course, entry-level anatomy and physiology, and introduction to psychology.
The bachelor’s degree in nursing will include 14 professional-technical courses during the second and third years. While residing on Hanover’s campus, students would take these courses at Ivy Tech-Madison, using its laboratories, classrooms and clinical facilities. Courses during this period include fundamentals of nursing, pharmacology for nursing, medical surgical nursing, mental health nursing, and nursing for childbearing and childrearing families.
Students enrolled in this program pay the prevailing locked tuition amount for the first three years. The locked tuition is then discounted approximately 55% in year four. Merit awards, scholarships and aid are prorated in year four as well. Students also pay room and board for all four years. Other Nursing Programs (Valparaiso and Northern Kentucky)
Dual Degree Nursing Program: a 3+1 program leading to a B.A. from Hanover and a B.S.N. from one of our partner programs.
Through Hanover’s accelerated 3+1 opportunity, you can earn two degrees in less than 4 1/2 years. Our innovative partnerships with Valparaiso University and Northern Kentucky University guarantee acceptance for a minimum of five qualified Hanover students at both institutions’ Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs. 3+1 pre-nursing students complete three years at Hanover as a Health & Movement Studies major and then finish the partner school’s 16-month accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program.
A second 4+1 option allows for pre-nursing students to complete four years at Hanover and then finish up with the 16-month bachelor of science in nursing degree at the partner school.
After successfully completing 3 or 4 years at Hanover and the 16-month A.B.S.N., participating students will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN exam). Information on each program’s NCLEX pass rate can be found in the corresponding links.

Third-Party Comments for Current Accreditation Reviews
In accordance with CCNE’s procedures, the Commission provides the opportunity for program constituents and other interested parties to submit, in writing, third-party comments concerning a program’s qualifications for accreditation.
At least 2 months before the scheduled on-site evaluation, the program must notify its major constituents, including, at a minimum, educators/nursing faculty teaching and students/residents/fellows enrolled in the program(s) under review, that an accreditation review is scheduled. For entry-to-practice nurse residency programs and nurse practitioner fellowship/residency programs, the healthcare organization’s nursing leadership must also be notified. The form of such notice is at the discretion of the program, but it should include the name of CCNE, the last date of submission, and instructions for submitting comments to CCNE. For example, the program may notify educators/nursing faculty and students/residents/fellows via email or newsletter and notify other program constituents and interested parties via other means (e.g., the program website, the institution’s newspaper, and/or email notification).
Written third-party comments regarding programs must be received by CCNE by no later than 21 days prior to the first day of the scheduled on-site evaluation. Only signed comments are accepted by CCNE. CCNE shares third-party comments with members of the evaluation team prior to the visit, but at no time during the review process are these comments shared with the program. During its review of the program, the evaluation team considers third-party comments that relate to the accreditation standards. All third-party comments submitted to CCNE must be written in English, consistent with CCNE’s policy on Conduct of Business in English.
