Shelby Edington ’20

From New Goshen, Ind., Shelby Edington ’20 came to Hanover to play softball, but also to “get a phenomenal education. I was drawn to the small school, community-based atmosphere and the fantastic science programs offered here.”

She advises taking advantage of opportunities provided at Hanover: “Live in the moment. Enjoy every conversation with a professor, classmate, and friend. Take a class that is interesting and engaging, not just a ‘requirement.’ Go to professor’s open office hours, build those connections, for they will benefit you greatly in the future…and they are not something that can be found on every campus.”

Shelby has served Hanover as a Peer Advisor during orientation week, a Student Ambassador with the Office of Admission, an infielder for the softball team, and an extern with the King’s Daughters’ Hospital Physical Therapy department.

Now, a biology major, with double minors in English and kinesiology and integrative physiology and a member of the Health Sciences Program, Shelby plans to attend graduate school after graduation to pursue a career as a pediatric physical therapist.

But, before she goes, Shelby hopes to visit the hiking trails on campus: “I want to sign the book on the hiking trail that can only be reached if shown by another student that knows the way.”
