Hanover and Indiana University Southeast create DPT/OTD admissions pathway
For the second time this year, Hanover College and Indiana University Southeast (IUS) have signed an agreement to establish a priority admissions pathway between the two institutions. The signing ceremony was held Nov. 21 at the Hanover College South Campus in Jeffersonville, Ind.
This innovative pathway underscores both institutions’ shared commitment to fostering opportunities for students to advance their academic aspirations while meeting the region’s workforce needs.
Under the agreement, Hanover will offer an expedited process with guaranteed admission for IUS graduates seeking entry into the College’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) programs. To qualify, Indiana University Southeast students must complete their undergraduate degree at IUS and meet Hanover’s admission criteria for these advanced programs.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with Hanover College, providing our graduates with a pathway to highly sought-after healthcare-related degrees and professions in our region,” said Debbie Ford, Indiana University Southeast chancellor. “This collaboration reflects our institutions’ commitment to addressing community needs while delivering top-tier educational opportunities close to home. Graduates of these programs embark on fulfilling healthcare careers, with many choosing to remain in the region, strengthening our economy and serving local communities.”
“Hanover College is looking forward to a successful, long-term partnership with IU Southeast to make our physical and occupational therapy programs accessible to outstanding IUS graduates,” said Hanover President Lake Lambert. “Our joint commitment to increase these opportunities for regional students will not only help those students pursue their goals, it will also help the community address an ongoing need for more healthcare professionals.”
Hanover Doctor of Physical Therapy Program / Hanover Occupational Therapy Program
Hanover’s DPT program is an accelerated, two-year hybrid education model that combines online learning, on-site lab immersions and integrated clinical education experiences. This unique evidence-based curriculum is based on high-quality, engaging coursework developed by Hanover’s faculty, with threads of service, innovation, interprofessional education and telehealth woven throughout to prepare students for the future of physical therapy practice.
The DPT faculty members collaborate with board-certified specialists and master clinicians to progress and refine student’s critical thinking and hands-on patient management skills. Hanover’s DPT program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
Hanover’s OTD program is a hybrid, accelerated program that prepares future leaders in occupational therapy. Students begin making an impact on the health and wellness of others sooner by earning their doctoral degree in just two years. The rigorous, evidence-based curriculum is delivered through an innovative learning format, allowing students to remain in their homes and communities while receiving their occupational therapy education.
To complement online coursework, students participate in lab immersions held on Hanover’s campus and in a dedicated lab space in southern Indiana, located right across the Ohio River from Louisville, Ky. The entry-level occupational therapy doctoral degree program has applied for accreditation and has been granted candidacy status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
