Dynamic trucking-industry leader featured in Shoemaker Series presentation
Cari Beth Baylor, president of Milan, Ind.-based Baylor Trucking, Inc., was the featured guest for the 2025 presentation of Hanover College’s Shoemaker Speaker Series. The event was held in front of a capacity crowd May 15 in the Science Center.

John Riddick ’87, professor and chair of the Hanover’s business department, guided an informative, personal and entertaining conversation with Baylor, who has served as president of Baylor Trucking, Inc. since 2016. Varied topics were addressed, ranging from corporate negotiations, financial responsibility and logistical issues during the COVID-19 pandemic to remaining true to yourself and your values and growing up with (and later leading) a family-owned, 24/7/365 business.
Baylor serves on the board of directors of the American Trucking Association (ATA) and Indiana Motor Truck. She is a charter member of both the Young Transportation Executive Council of the Truckload Carriers Association and the Indiana Motor Truck Emerging Leaders’ group. In 2016, she was featured by “FleetOwner” magazine as one of the industry’s 12 most influential women. In 2011, she received ATA’s Mike Russell Image Award for her efforts to promote a positive national image for the trucking industry.
She is the daughter of the late Bob Baylor ’70 and Beth Baylor, who have each served as a member of the Hanover Board of Trustees.
Launched in 2022, the Shoemaker Speaker Series was established to feature on-campus conversations with prominent voices on business, leadership and innovation. The program, part of Hanover’s expanding entrepreneurial network, is made possible through the generosity of John Shoemaker ’64 and his wife, Donna.
